How we organize
Euro Handball Pride Championships
The LGBTQ+ handball community has been organizing international tournaments for decades. Due to a high number of tournaments each year, the participation in each one was very low for a number of years, until all the team leaders decided to make a change. In 2013, all team leaders agreed that from now, there would only be one international tournament each year, hoping to gather as many participants as possible. This has become a great success.
Social meeting place
Today, hundreds of handballers from across Europe travel for this annual event, which is a great place to meet other athletes and handball enthusiasts.
Formalization
In 2023, the associated teams agreed for the first time to standardize the organization of the championship via statutes and guidelines for organizers. In 2024, the Championship´s name was changed from LGBTIQ+ Euro Handball Championship, to Euro Handball Pride Championship.
Who gets to organize?
During the Championship, all the team leaders meet for an annual team leader´s conference, deciding on the future of the pride handball community. Then they also decide who will be the organizer for the three upcoming years.
Reference group
One representative from each of the two previous organizers, and one representative from each of the three upcoming ones, constitutes the reference group, the governing body of our pride handball organization.
Reference group 2025-2026
The reference group gives advice to the organizer, and has the responsibility to follow up on the organization of the Euro Handball Pride Championships between each championship, making sure that the guidelines are followed. It also acts as a tournament jury in case of disputes or protests during the championships.

The guidelines for the organization of Euro Handball Pride Championships are decided on by the representatives for all pride clubs who attend our annual championships. You can read the updated guidelines here.
Here you can download the application form to be the organizer of the Euro Handball Pride Championship. The organizer is chosen three years ahead, at the Team Leader’s Conference during the EHPC.
